Projects

Community Extension and Development Projects:

The institute has a tradition of getting engaged in community projects and extension work. In fact the institute started with community projects.

Social Awareness Campaign:
Samta Rath Initiative

CSRD in association with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has started Samatha Rath Campaign for awareness generation among the rural communities regarding the welfare schemes of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. ‘Ami Samathecha Doot’ followed Samatha Rath Campaign.

Samatha Rath is a meaningful extension activity for the student social workers who visited distant villages conducting street plays, public meetings and lectures on various social welfare programmes of the Ministry for the Scheduled Castes and the Disabled. The pamphlets, calendars, booklets and posters were distributed to the villagers.

Other extension projects undertaken recently

The Institute is engaged in facilitating community organization process through its faculty and students. The faculty and students are organizing various programmes and small projects to help various groups in the community. As a part of extension activities, the Institute has undertaken the following projects:

Life Skill Education and Personality Development Programme for Adolescents

A joint intervention research project by School of Social Work, University of North Carolina, USA, and BPHES-CSRD-ISWR.  The objective of the programme is to increase knowledge on the importance of education, gender equity, reproductive health, leadership and prevention of gender based violence. In the first phase of the programmes, teachers of Zilla Parishad schools will be trained for giving Life Skills Education, and the programme will be implemented in 40 selected schools of Zilla Parishad.

Child Guidance and Counselling Centre at Anand Sadan

Anand Sadan as an urban extension project is being developed as centre for conducting various community outreach programmes of CSRD. Activities at Anand Sadan include non-formal education in the form of remedial and supplementary coaching to school dropouts and school going children of the neighbourhood, home visits for counselling the parents, life skills training for the adolescent and youth, personality development programmes, cultural and sports activities for the children.

Implementation of Scholarship/Financial Assistance Scheme for Educational Enhancement and Development of SC/ST students

The Institute signed MoU with Rashtriya Chemical Fertilizer Ltd. Mumbai to conduct programme for Scholarship/Financial Assistance Scheme for Educational Enhancement and Development of SC/ST students under the CSR project. The programme is being conducted in five districts, namely, Aurangabad, Beed, Latur, Osmanabad and Ahmednagar of Maharashtra. The Institute has disbursed first installment from RCF to 110 students from 05 districts to initiate the programme. Under this programme RCF is providing financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- to each students. The project is implemented in 10 Schools.

 MLA Aadarsh Gram Yojana

CSRD is providing services for implementation of MLA Adarsha Gram Yojna in 05 blocks of Ahmednagar district, namely, Pathardi, Parner, Jamkhed, Akole and Sangamner. The Institute conducted Micro-planning process and village development plan of the following villages:

Annual Status of Education Report 2017

Since last three years, the Institute has collaborated with Pratham Education Foundation for conducting Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) in the Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra.  This report is a citizen-led, rural, household survey. This report has been capturing enrolment for age group 3-16 years and learning levels for the age group 5-16 years in almost all the rural districts of India. ASER is quoted extensively in research publications, news articles and government policy such as, 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) and Economic Survey of India (since 2009). ASER has acknowledged the significant contribution of CSRD in the Ahmednagar District and reflected in their annual report. This year the institute conducted Annual Status of Education Report (2017)- Beyond Basics. Survey was conducted in 60 villages by 115 students during

Operation and Management of Shelter for Urban Homeless.

The Institute, with financial support from Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation under Deendayal Antyodaya National Urban Livlihood Mission, has started a Temporary Shelter Home for Urban Homeless People. The main objective of starting the shelter is to provide temporary shelter during night time especially for vulnerable segments of the urban homeless like dependent children, aged, disabled, mentally ill and recovering gravely ill. The shelter is operational at Anand Sadan Building, Chitale Road, Ahmednagar.

 Community Based Monitoring and Planning (CBMP)

The Institute is selected by National Rural Health Mission for the implementation of a project on “Community Based Monitoring and Planning of National Health Mission Govt. of Mahrashtra”. In this regard the institute signed MoU with Government appointed Nodal Agency SATHI, Pune. The first phase of the programme was successfully implemented in 44 health sub-centers of Nagar block. The project is being continued in second phase from the month of November 2017.

Impact Assessment study of CSR Programmes of L& T, Ahmednagar

L & T Company approached BPHES’ CSRD Institute of Social Work and Research to     conduct independent impact assessment study of their ongoing CSR programmes           being undertaken in the village Pimpalgaon-Malvi of Ahmendgar districts of        Maharashtra. Under an MoU signed in between the Company and the Research      Institute, the study was designed covering Pimplgoan-Malvi and surrounding            communities. The study covered all the programme and activities initiated, ongoing         and completed during the entire duration of ten years (2008 to 2017).

 Celebration World Social Work Day & International Social Forestry Day.

The Institute in association with Social Forestry Department, Ahmednagar, celebrated World Social Work Day & International Forest Day on 21st March 2018, at Isalak village. The students of MSW did Shramdan and cleaned the surrounding area of the saplings of trees planted by students of the previous batch of MSW. The programme began by the address of Dr. Suresh Pathare, wherein he shared information about World Social Work Day celebration across the globe and how professional social work is co-related to environment. Mrs. Kirti Jamdhade, the Forest Officer of Social Forestry Department, spoke about the work carried out by their Department in Isalak village. In her speech, she said that the Department’s target is to plant about 13 crore trees. Following her speech, an oath was taken by everyone about tree plantation and responsibility. Beyond this the MSW-II year students celebrated World Social Work Day in Bhorwadi and Akolner villages by conducting programme like Tree plantation and Swachta Abhiyan.

 Celebration of International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day  is celebrated on March 8 every year. In this regard the Institute Celebrated International Women’s Day in various Field Work agencies, Communities and villages where MSW Students are placed for their field work. The details of activities conducted are given below:
